Why do different companies use different social media websites?

Within business, many different companies use social media as a way to promote their business/product. They do this as it is an easy way to help to promote their business/product to a large audience, whilst being able to reach their target audience. They are able to do this by using sites such as Instagram, facebook and twitter.

They use these sites as it is easy for them to reach a large audience at once which can save the company money whereas if they were to make a billboard somewhere not as many people will pay attention, however, if the advert on your Instagram timeline they can’t miss it.

Nowadays, a lot of companies from smaller to larger companies use videos to help promote their business or product, they do this because it is the best way to promote a product or business in the best light to the audience. The other benefit to filming videos is that it is easy to put the video out there by using different social media websites such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter which allows the company to get more exposure. some companies also use YouTube as a way to promote their product by making adverts to show off their product which can be played before a monetized video which the audience is forced to watch.

Other companies such as the BBC and other news outlets use all kinds of social media websites such as Twitter, Instagram and even having their own websites to show the population what is going on around the world, the reason they use social media is because it is easy to access anytime anywhere as most people just don’t have the time to stay at home and watch the news on their TV all the time. In addition to this, it can benefit the companies by giving them another source of income as social media has really been trending over the past decade and it shows no sign of slowing down at the rate that it is becoming more and more popular every year with new users making accounts all the time.

All of these platforms obtain different uses and each has a different target audience, snapchat is only a mobile device which makes it suit the youth more as they are more likely to use social media through their phone than on a web browser.
